Eating Handfuls of Marshmallows...How To Be YOU Again

Yesterday I was literally eating marshmallows by the handful. Even though they were the little ones, it wasn't a pretty site.

The problem with marshmallows is this:

1. Marshmallows are not a substance found in nature.

(On the last camping trip I went on I noticed that the ants didn't even take to the stick with the marshmallow remains from making s'more. Ants...)

2. Marshmallows are more for texture than for flavor⏤especially if they aren't melty in a s'more or rice crispy treat (if you search your heart, you have this awareness, too).

3. Marshmallows are for select desserts (see above) and for YouTube videos. (You've got to check this out.)

But the real problem was this:
I WAS NOT BEING ME. 
I WAS BEING REACTIVE INSTEAD OF CREATIVE.

...that is to say that regardless of nutritional content (or lack thereof), marshmallows were not the real problem. Being out of balance and wasting time on things that didn't really matter was the real problem. 


It can happen for any number of reasons.

...For me, it started by engaging in conversations with people who do not want to listen or are committed to misunderstanding (mostly on Facebook).
...rolled in with a few days of soggy weather became a few days without laughing...which drove me further into wasting time on social media and self-soothing with sugar floofs (aka mini-marshmallows).


The good news is I recognized that I was out of my element and way off balance. (Better late than never.)


WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU "ARERN'T BEING YOU"


1. PAUSE. Just take a breath, a step away. 

2. Pay attention to what you are doing, where you are spending your time and placing your attention. (Be honest. There is nothing gained from lying to yourself about this shit.)

3. Ask yourself: "When is the last time I really laughed?" (A chuckle from a meme isn't enough. I'm talking an authentic roll of laughter).

"Is what I'm doing/saying/thinking right now making me happy?"

If the answer is "No," then STOP.

4. Ask yourself: "What lights me up? When do I feel most me? What would I like to feel or have happen today?"  

Even asking these questions will turn the energy around. But if you really want to accelerate the process and feel better fast:
take action and DO that thing
...unfollow or snooze those conflict-loving A**holes, create your own funny memes, go outside and hug a tree, think happy thoughts, clean up your space, journal about the future you ‘d like to have and how it will feel to have it...just DO something that will get you out of this funk, that will leave you feeling lighter.

THIS (what I've outlined above) is how you get back to you.
